Series Rough and Delicate – A Meeting in Düsseldorf

Mini-series of four images created in the Carlstadtdistrict of Düsseldorf.

The four images represent a deliberate encounter of two poles: the coarse (rusty machinery at Spee’schen Graben) and the delicate (a winter-blooming rose). The recurring but blurred city skyline (Mannesmann high-rise and TV tower) spatially and thematically connects both motifs: the intimate close-up versus the distant, sober modernity. Black and white intensifies the focus on form, tonal value, and surface — directing the eyes to structure and contrast, not color.
