Series: Perspective on Light

<< Project description

I was out and about in Düsseldorf looking for new subjects for my project “Unterbilk.” However, since I was out late in the day and it was mid-December, the sun was already very low in the sky. The streets were bathed in a diffuse light, which made it difficult for me to find a suitable subject. In photography, it rarely makes sense to force yourself. So, I let myself wander through the streets until I finally arrived at the Rheinknie Bridge. This bridge, often simply called the Knie Bridge, connects the Unterbilk district on the right bank of the Rhine with Oberkassel on the left bank. The low sun beautifully illuminated the bridge ramp from below. The concrete structure was marked by strong contrasts, which ultimately made it irresistible for me to start photographing. This is how my series “Perspective on Light” came about, of which I am presenting eight shots here that are especially close to my heart.
As with many of my photos, I have found that these images truly come to life only as large prints (DIN A3 size or larger).
