I was born in Düsseldorf and still live here today. The city has shaped me for many years, and I continue to discover new perspectives that inspire me photographically.
For a long time, photography played only a small role in a busy professional and family life. Now it has a firm place again, as a way to express how I see the world.
I enjoy working across different genres, but I’m most drawn to artistic photography. I find my subjects mainly in urban spaces, while traveling, and in spontaneous moments that speak to me. It’s important to me to portray people and places with respect and sensitivity, especially when individuals become part of an image.
How Wollborn.Art Came About
In photography, especially here in Germany, there has long been an endless debate—a kind of intellectual sparring over what photography actually is:
Craft or art? And who has the authority to decide?
I usually follow this debate with a shake of my head. Personally, I simply want to take photographs and further develop my artistic skills through my own vision, perspective, and personality. In short: in my own way, through my art (and here comes the little wordplay: in German, “Art” can mean both “way” and “art,” while in English, of course, it means “art”). That’s pure coincidence, of course. Honestly!
And that’s how Wollborn.Art was born: a simple, personal name that carries who I am and represents my work.
